Mojo Time!

Forgive me for slacking on the posting front! Seems I've been doing a lot of napping during my girls' nap time lately, which is usually when I get crafty and/or update my blog!

I've been creating a scrapbook for my brother, which is just of pictures of his dog, Divitt. Divitt has a cancerous tumor in his back leg and probably won't be around much longer, so my mom thought that it might be special to give my brother a scrapbook for Christmas that has pictures of his beloved dog. I created the first page this past Wednesday, which also happened to be Scrapbooksteals' Midweek Mojo day. I used the sketch to make the first page.

Here is the sketch:

And here is the layout:

Now I am completely aware that this layout is very bland and embellishment-free, but the way I see it...this is a scrapbook for a boy. How elaborate do I really need to get? :) I think he'd be happy if this was just a photo album with pictures...dressing each picture up is just an added bonus. :)

I hope by the time Christmas rolls around, my brother's heart will have healed enough to enjoy this scrapbook.

That's all for now! I'll be back soon with more craftiness!

Splendid...

Today I am featured over on Authentique's blog, so I thought I would show more about my layout here on my page. Now anyone who has followed me for some time knows that I tend to scrap better when I have a sketch or another layout to work off of. Well, just because I'm a DT member doesn't change this fact. :) I searched through the past Scrapbooksteals sketches by the fantastic Kristy Lee and came across one that would work perfectly for the picture I had.

Here's the sketch (MWM #35):

And here is the layout I created:

I have used this sketch in the past, but I have to admit that I like this layout MUCH better than the original one I created with the sketch. I love how the colors of the Splendid collection go so perfectly with the colors in the picture. And I made a couple flowers to match as well.

I know I'm tooting my own horn here, but I am so happy with the way this turned out. I created this for my best friend (who is in the picture with her daughter and her newest niece) and I really hope she enjoys it.

Thanks for stopping by! Until next time...

I created a fun layout today on Authentique's blog. I'll show you the layout, but you'll have to head over there for more details! :)

Authentique's First Sketch Challenge!

Hi All! I am so excited for Authentique's first ever sketch challenge (and my first ever blog post as a DT member)! If you've followed my blog in the past, you know that I tend to do my best work when I have a sketch or guide to create from. There is a card sketch and a layout sketch this month, but I have decided to do the layout sketch.

Here is the sketch:

And here is the layout I created:

Supplies Used:

Patterned Paper: Uncommon Gifted (gray side) and Unique (flower side)
Die cuts: Uncommon Tabloids, Elements
Other: ribbon and button (American Crafts), twine, cardstock

I have two girls, so I love how girly and fun the Uncommon line is. It works so well with black and white pictures, too. I decided to scrap a couple pictures I took of my oldest daughter. This layout is simple, but fun at the same time.

I went outside of my comfort zone and left a lot of white space. I decided to use an Element die cut and a Tabloid die cut to fill in some of the white space at the top of the page.

I used one of the Tabloid journaling tags for a tiny bit of personalization and used dimensional adhesive to make it pop.

I thought it would be fun to tie some twine around the pictures and use a button that matches the Uncommon line. This picture also shows the details behind the title Element card. I distressed the paper to give it a bit of an edge because the rest of the page is very pretty and straight-laced.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I can't wait to see what you create with the fabulous sketches Tifany created. You have until September 14th at midnight (PST) link your projects to the Authentique blog. The winner will receive an Authentique prize pack!! Winner will be announced September 17th on the blog. Be sure to check out the blog to see how the other amazing ladies on the DT interpreted the sketch!

Happy creating!!
