A past project...

I was just looking through some of my past posts and I realized I forgot to post an altered piece that I created way back in May! I turned a double frame into a cute quote piece for my daughter's teacher on the last day of school. It was the first time I'd ever altered something and I was THRILLED with the way it turned out!

Here's the finished product:

I think it turned out really cute and Ms. Joy cried when my daughter gave it to her. :) I think I'm going to stock up on frames like this to use as end-of-the-year gifts for future teachers. Or just to make something cute for myself. :)

Now I'm in the Gold Club...AND the "52" club!!

Holy cow! I have completed a YEAR'S worth of scrapbook layouts! I can hardly believe it!! Without the fabulous mind and talent of Kristy from Scrapbooksteals.com, I would have 52 less layouts done and I will be forever grateful!

Alright, enough of the sappiness. :) Let's get to some layouts!! Here are my Gold Club layouts and my +2 to round out the year! (See the sketches for these layouts at here.)

I'm in the Sapphire Club!

I've been cranking out a TON of layouts lately to get caught up on Scrapbooksteals.com's weekly sketch challenge. All of my efforts have paid off because I am now in the Sapphire Club (sketches 31-40). Follow this link to see all of the sketches that correspond to the following layouts.

Have some Authentique!

Since I've created a couple projects using papers from Authentique, a brand-spanking new paper company, I thought I would post my creations. I used papers from their Uncommon line for both projects and I'm in LOVE with the way they turned out!

Here is the card I created to give my hubby for our 9th anniversary tomorrow:

Here is the layout I created:

And here is a close-up of the journaling on the hidden tag:

I can't wait to get my hands on more of Authentique's collections and create more beautiful projects with them!

Until next time...

ScrapbookSteals Crop Challenges

Scrapbooksteals recently had an online crop/chat and with each one they do, they issue challenges to be completed for prizes. Here are the challenges and my entries:

Challenge #1: Mid Week Mojo #48

Here's the sketch:

And here is my layout:

This layout contains one of my new favorite things...kraft paper! I seriously never used it before this week and since I created this layout, I've used it two more times. Can't get enough! I'd been looking for a cute way to scrap these two pictures and this sketch fit the bill. So cute!

Challenge #2: Number Recipe (1 die cut, 3 colors of spray mist, 5 patterned papers, 7 brads and 9 buttons)

Here's what I created:

This seriously has to be one of my favorite layouts ever. Not just because I'm thrilled with how it turned out, but I also LOVE all of the papers used. First and foremost, kraft. :) Then I used some papers from MME Stella and Rose's Hazel line and MME 29th Street Market. They're all right up my aqua, brown and pink color-scheme-of-the-moment alley.

Because they're hard to see, I'll tell you that for the three mists, I used these Glimmer Mist "flavors," Route 66, Granite and Vintage Pink. I didn't want to alter the colors of my papers very much, so I basically used "clear" colors plus some light pink. I'm happy with the effect.

Challenge #3: Summer Fun

For this challenge, a project had to be created using this picture as inspiration:

This is what I created:

I thought the color scheme of the card was very lemon-limey, which seems very summery to me.

Challenge #4: Gender Swap

For this challenge we were to create a layout using opposite gender collections/papers. For instance, if I was scrapping my girls, I'd use more masculine papers. If I was scrapping my nephews, I'd use more feminine papers. Unfortunately I did not have time to complete this challenge, but I plan on doing this in the future!

Challenge #5: Bonus Sketch!

This challenge was to create a layout using the following sketch, which was done by Melissa Dehne...

I combined challenges 2 and 5, so here is the layout again...

I flipped the sketch on it's side in order to use a horizontal picture. It turned out so cute (if I do say so myself). :)

I love being "challenged" so I can't wait for the next crop!

And I'm BACK!

So I know I said I'd be back with layouts, but I just finished making a card that I'm extremely proud of. I've never claimed to be a cardmaker. Heck, I've never claimed to be a scrapbooker, either. I'm really good at faking it. :)

Anyway, I saw a card recently that inspired me and this is what I came up with:

This card contains my favorite colors of the moment: brown, aqua and pink. Luckily for me, MME Stella and Rose's Hazel line has a couple of those colors and kraft paper (which I'm OBSESSED with right now) goes really well with Hazel! Throw a little twine in the mix and you've got one of my FAVORITE cards that I've ever made. It's simple, it's pretty and it's for someone special. Triple bonus!

Next time I'll be back with layouts, PROMISE! :)

Let's Update This Thing!

Holy cow! It's been a LONG time since I've posted anything! Life sure is getting hectic, especially with school being out (weird to say that when my oldest only went to school two days a week, for 2.5 hours a day).

ANYWAY, I thought I'd start with some cards that I've made lately. I found a fun card sketch from the incredibly talented Kristy Lee at Scrapbooksteals and made a few cards based on it.

Here's the sketch:

And here are the cards I created:

(sorry for the blurry picture)

I recently made the discovery that 6x6 paper pads were the BEST INVENTION EVER!! They are perfect for card making, especially when you don't want to dive into a whole 12x12 sheet of paper to make a card. <3 it! For these cards I used Echo Park For The Record, MME Lime Twist - Happy Go Lucky and Imaginisce Enchanted. Second best invention ever...TWINE! I am in LOVE!

I had fun making all of these cards and I hope that the people who received them enjoyed them as well.

I'll show you a BUNCH of new layouts I've created next time! Until then...
